    Clark Wood Elementary School

Clark Wood Elementary School is located in the Borough of Elkland, Pennsylvania.  It is a K-6 institution that houses just over 300 students.  A strong emphasis is placed on reading and math, but the teachers strive to maintain the balance between social, emotional, and physical growth of our students and academics.  We wish for our children to want to come to school and enjoy their education.  The Clark Wood staff has a "family reading night" program each month with guest readers, and the staff provides a book for every child present.  The staff and community support the Home and School Association in their Fall Festival, Santa Shoppe, and family movie nights.

Through the Accelerated Reading Program, Clark Wood students read an average of 27,000 books per year.  A special wall has been designated as the Accelerated Reader Wall of Fame and with the support of the staff and student council, Clark Wood students receive over $800 worth of prizes each year.

We have consistently scored well on the PSSA's.  The Northern Tioga School District recently adopted a new mathematics curriculum that should help improve our already quality scores.  With our small class sizes, hardworking teachers, and supportive community and parents, we should continue to meet the expectations of the Pennsylvania Department of Education and make Adequate Yearly Progress on the state assessments.
